I’m getting really close to finishing my verses and look forward to embellishing with taggim before I start my border. What I wanted to share is the very spiritual feeling of doing this work (not on Shabbat!). I have taken to reading about each letter and it’s meaning as I stitch them. The book is called the Book of Letters; a Mysitical Alef-Bet by Lawrence Kushner (copyright 1975; hardcover edition 2010). It’s a very sweet little book, hand calligraphed to describe the 22 letters through ancient sources, Hasidic folk tales, etc. I just love it!
